Hello and welcome to MySelf Builder.
Have you ever experienced a situation that made you feel lucky?
Maybe you found some extra money, received an exciting email or invitation, or won a special award. You, or others around you, may have mentioned that luck played a role in that moment.
You may have heard a comment like, "Wow, that person is so lucky. They always seem to get good breaks." Before a big test or presentation, someone might say, "Wish me luck," or when a series of events don't turn out as we'd hoped, we may describe ourselves as being unlucky.
When we focus on luck, we're acknowledging that situations are occurring by chance rather than our own actions. Although luck may be a factor, our actions and responses ultimately contribute to our success and failures.
In order to increase the odds of experiencing more of those lucky moments, or golden opportunities, focus on these areas:
1) Find your balance
Imagine studying for a test and preparing for a presentation after a long day at work while also taking care of your family when you only slept for 5 hours. When we're overwhelmed with responsibilities, unable to practice self-care, and enjoy life, it can influence how we feel about ourselves and if we are able to accomplish certain goals.
2) Maintain a positive mindset
Your mindset describes how you view yourself, the world, and impacts how you think, feel, and behave. Demonstrating resilience by not giving up easily and overcoming challenges with a positive attitude are traits of successful individuals.
3) Stay prepared
Although applications typically have timelines, other opportunities may arrive at unexpected moments. Stay organized, motivated, and ready to respond when the right opportunity presents itself. Think of how firefighters, law enforcement, and medical professionals have to respond to emergency situations at any time.
